Remarkable Mary Akpan is a Nigerian writer, public speaker, girl-child advocate, and social entrepreneur committed to advancing the rights and opportunities of girls and women in Nigeria. She is the Founder of the Mary Remarkable Foundation, a nonprofit organization she established at the age of 18 with a mission of adding value to humanity through initiatives focused on education, health, and the protection of the poor, sick, and physically challenged. She is also the founder of forher, an advocacy platform building safe spaces for girls and women across Nigeria.

Remarkable Mary studied Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Leeds in the UK, and from an early age she has used her platforms as a writer, speaker, and community organizer to advance justice for marginalized populations. Her humanitarian work has taken her into some of Nigeria’s most neglected communities, including remote oil-producing areas of Akwa Ibom, where she has organized outreach and dignity-focused programming for populations often overlooked by government and industry. She has been invited to speak at youth seminars across Africa and was selected in 2018 to represent Nigeria at the International Human Rights Summit organized by the United Nations. Her advocacy is grounded in the belief that transformative social change begins when young people commit their time, their voices, and their platforms to those most often left behind.
