Jane Mann-Effiong is an education advocate, media professional, and youth leader committed to advancing quality education, gender equality, and active citizenship. She is the Founder and Creative Director of GEM Impact Media and leads The GEM Initiative, its social impact and education advocacy arm, which works to improve educational outcomes for girls through mentorship, advocacy, community engagement, and leadership development.

A Malala Fund Girl Fellow Alumna and former member of the Malala Fund Young Women Advisory Council (2024-2026), Jane has contributed to policy dialogues, youth development initiatives, and advocacy efforts focused on girls’ education, adolescent empowerment, and inclusive education. Her work has involved collaboration with government institutions, civil society organizations, community leaders, and development partners to strengthen opportunities for young people. Beyond advocacy, Jane is a radio presenter with Albarka Radio 97.5FM, a producer, public speaker, and storyteller who uses media as a tool for social change. She currently serves on the NGYouthSDGs Youth Advisory Board and is passionate about building inclusive communities where girls and boys can thrive, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society. Her areas of expertise span education advocacy, gender equality, girls’ education, youth leadership development, community engagement, active citizenship and governance, public speaking and facilitation, communications and media, strategic partnerships, mentorship and capacity building, policy advocacy, and program design and implementation.
